When is mole removal necessary? Aren’t moles good in enhancing good looks and beauty? Why must some moles be removed?

Most people have moles. They appear on skins at various parts in the body. They enhance facial aesthetic when they appear on the checks and above the upper lip. They add more beauty to the face like dimples.

But moles when raised are unattractive and bothersome. Like skin tags, they can easily be irritated by costant contact with clothing, by shaving, and by bathing. Moles and skin tags located on the shoulders can easily be irritated by collars and bra straps. Those that grow on the hips and stomach can be disturbed by belts, tight pants and trousers. This constant irritation may cause health problems later.

Some health practitioners warned that raised red moles are cancer risks. I do not know why, but most of our medical institutions have this notice posted in hospitals, warning people to see a doctor when their moles grow red and are raised up.

I have many moles on my chest. Some are red but not raised up. They posed no health risks to me. My only concern was when a skin tag grew on my hip which was always irritated by my belt. I went to the hospital and had it removed by a doctor through excision. It was a quick and painless procedure, and was done in less than half an hour.

Nowadays, mole removal is safer and more convenient than those during the earlier days. Depending on the size and location of moles and skin tags, mole removal can either be done by cauterization, excision, and cryosurgery. Another procedure similar to wart removal is to apply a solution to the mole and wait for a week until it falls off. But this can pose health hazards especially when you have skin allergies to chemicals.

When is mole removal necessary? When a mole is unattractive, annoying and inconvenient. When a mole is red and raised up, mole removal is not only a necessity, but a must to minimize and prevent cancer risks.
