Causes of HAIR LOSS and How To Avoid Them

What are the causes of hair loss and how shall we avoid them?

Hair loss is a big problem especially for men. Most men are ashame to be seen bald even during old age. They’ll try everything to hide their baldness to avoid being taunted or laughed at by children or by their peers. They hide it by wearing wigs, hats, or even try a hair transplant. But the latter is a very expensive alternative. So some bald guys cover the top of their heads by combing up some few long strands of hair from the sides of their heads, and fixing them with the use of gel. It looks awkward too, but at least it covers their shiny scalp.

The number one cause of hair loss is dandruff. There are other factors that can cause hair loss too, such as stress, vitamin deficiency, and old age, but dandruff is the major cause. So to avoid hair loss, it is very important that the hair be cleaned daily. As a protecting cover of the head, hair accumulates dirts such as dusts, grease, grimes, chemicals, and other pollutants on the air. All these can cause dandruff to develop on the scalp. When dandruff develops, the hair starts to fall, and this may cause hair loss when left untreated.

To avoid dandruff, we should clean our hair with a shampoo of reliable and trustworthy brand. There are a lot of adulterated shampoos being peddled by charlatans. Don’t ever try them  -  they can can destroy your hair. Be sure not to be gullible enough to be tricked to buy these products just because they are cheap. Choose a shampoo whose ph value is suitable for your hair. Too much acidic or too much alkaline may damage your hair. This ph value varies from person to person, therefore it is important that you check what ph value is good for your hair.

For personal hygiene, it is better to take a bath daily, but shampooing your hair daily may damage your hair, especially when you are using a shampoo of potent solution. Shampoos are made from chemicals too, and as such, they can be harsh and damaging to our hair. So, select the mild ones, if you want to shampoo your hair daily.

There are herbal shampoos available in some clinics or stores. They are a little bit expensive compared to the conventional shampoos sold at drugstores and supermarkets, but they are safe for your hair. Most of them will not only treat dandruff to prevent hair loss but can also restore the body and luster of your hair.

Of course, we should avoid stress too. Too much problem causes insomia, and this depletes some vitamins in the body that may result to hair loss. So stop worrying, and preserve your hair till old age.

Health Benefits of Cruciferous Vegetables

Many people are not aware of the many good health benefits of cruciferous vegetables. Some peole do not eat vegetables. They believe vegetables lack the essential proteins for growth, and are only good for cows and other animals.

Vegetables are rich sources of proteins too. In fact, the proteins in vegetables are much better than the proteins from meat. Plant-based proteins such as those found in vegetables are light and are easily digested and assimilated by the body. Proteins from flesh meats are heavy proteins that are hard to digest and can cause much acidity in the body.

From the very beginning of humanity, vegetables were the best food for man. The complete nutrients in vegetables and plants supply man’s need for sustenance. They have strong and healthy body free from all diseases, and most of them were centenarians reaching their old age up to over 600 years,  with one reaching 969 years old!

Vegetables are rich in phytonutrients that are very essential for optimum health. Most of these nutrients in vegetables and plants are not only excellent for food, but they are also very effective cures for a lot of diseases including cancer.

Among these functional food are the cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale, mustard, turnip, rutabaga, bok choy, kholrabi, and cauliflower. These vegetables contain a potent phytonutrient called di-indole methane or DIM that effectively restores the hormonal imbalance called estrogen dominance. Enlarged prostate, lack of sex drive, memory loss, headaches, insomnia, irregular menstrual cycles, mood swings, belly fats, hair loss, dry skin and premature aging are among the many abnormalities and diseases caused by estrogen dominance.

How do we develop this hormonal imbalance called estrogen dominance?

Estrogen dominance develops as we grow older. When we are over 40 years old, our hormone level changes, and this produces more estrogen than needed in our body. This causes low sex drive, belly fats, soft muscles, saggy skin, and others.

Estrogen dominance is also caused by environmental pollutants that are dumped by chemical, industrial, and agricultural companies into the environment. These toxins imitate the effects of estrogen, and they are called xenoestrogens. These synthetic substances destroy  the estrogen level in our body and causes a lot of maladies such as depression, foggy thinking, man’s boobs, unwanted facial hair, skin problems, and premature aging.

Eating flesh meats can also cause estrogen dominance. Most flesh meats of  animals contain massive amount of hormones.  Eating the flesh meats of hormone-fed animals such as cows, chickens and others can dangerously upset the natural estrogen balance in our body.

Beware of plastic food wrappers,  and water and drinks containers. Plastics  release toxic xenoestrogens that can wreck havoc to the hormonal balance of estrogen in our body. These causes headaches, prostate problems, bloating, water retention, hair loss, and insomnia.

Let us learn how and endeavor to eat vegetables now. Let us eat cruciferous vegetables and enjoy its many good health benefits. Let us spare ourselves and our family of the many maladies and diseases that plague so many people today. Let us take good care of the life God has given us, and let us live this life full of joy and happiness and free from all diseases and sufferings.

Nutrients In Sweet Potato

camote1The root crops or tubers and the leaves of sweet potato contain many nutrients essential to good health. Sweet potato is three times more nutritious than white potato, and cheaper too.

Sweet potato contains carbohydrate, protein, vitamins and minerals. It is rich in iron and is good in treating anemia. The decoction of its leaves and stem is good in raising and normalizing blood platelet count in dengue patients.

Sweet potato is rich in carbohydrates. The natural sugar or glucose from carbohydrate is the main nutrient of the brain, and it also provides energy for the body. Sweet potato has a carminative effect on the body: it expels excess gas from the stomach as flatulence.

Sweet potato contains polyphenol, a powerful antioxidant to combat stress that may cause diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Besides polyphenol, sweet potato also contains vitamin A, and vitamin C which are powerful antioxidants that not only delay and reverse the process of aging but also boost the immune system to fight diseases including cancer.

Sweet potato contains potassium which is very important in the maintenance of proper acid-alkaline balance in the blood and tissues. Potassium is essential for muscle contraction, and it helps the kidney to detoxify the blood. It prevents over-acidity, which is the precursor of so many diseases.

Sweet potato is also rich in magnesium. This mineral is crucial in many bodily functions, such as cellular replication, energy production, and protein formation. It participates in more than 300 enzyme reactions in the body, and operates as a catalyst in many functions including the production of the very crucial ATP.

Zinc is also found in sweet potato. This mineral is extremely important  during fetal development, where a deficiency during this period can cause premature birth, growth retardation, and low birth weight. It is needed in the formation of DNA and RNA, and in the synthesis of proteins. It is very helpful in treating Alzheimer’s disease, Wilson’s disease, macular degeneration, and acne. Zinc also prevents night blindness, hair loss, epilepsy, and osteoporosis.

Like most root crops or tubers, sweet potato contains sulfur. This mineral is needed in the formation of four amino acids: glutathione, methionine, taurine, and cysteine. Sulfur is important for healthy hair, skin and nails, and protects against the harmful effects of pollution and radiation. It disinfect the blood and protects cell protoplasm. It is also important in the utilization of oxygen by the body.

Sweet potato also contains  other vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B1 (thiamin), vitamin B2 (riboflavin),  vitamin B3 (niacin), calcium, copper, manganese,  sodium, phosphorus, aluminum and boron. The B vitamins are very important for the brain and the nervous system. Calcium and phosphorus work together to build strong bones and teeth. Sodium is an important electrolyte that works together with potassium in the proper maintenance of acid-alkaline balance in blood and tissues. Manganese aids in the formation of mother’s milk, and is involved in the reproduction and mammary gland functions. Boron prevents postmenopausal osteoporosis, enhances brain functions, and promotes alertness.
