Health Benefits of Cruciferous Vegetables

Many people are not aware of the many good health benefits of cruciferous vegetables. Some peole do not eat vegetables. They believe vegetables lack the essential proteins for growth, and are only good for cows and other animals.

Vegetables are rich sources of proteins too. In fact, the proteins in vegetables are much better than the proteins from meat. Plant-based proteins such as those found in vegetables are light and are easily digested and assimilated by the body. Proteins from flesh meats are heavy proteins that are hard to digest and can cause much acidity in the body.

From the very beginning of humanity, vegetables were the best food for man. The complete nutrients in vegetables and plants supply man’s need for sustenance. They have strong and healthy body free from all diseases, and most of them were centenarians reaching their old age up to over 600 years,  with one reaching 969 years old!

Vegetables are rich in phytonutrients that are very essential for optimum health. Most of these nutrients in vegetables and plants are not only excellent for food, but they are also very effective cures for a lot of diseases including cancer.

Among these functional food are the cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale, mustard, turnip, rutabaga, bok choy, kholrabi, and cauliflower. These vegetables contain a potent phytonutrient called di-indole methane or DIM that effectively restores the hormonal imbalance called estrogen dominance. Enlarged prostate, lack of sex drive, memory loss, headaches, insomnia, irregular menstrual cycles, mood swings, belly fats, hair loss, dry skin and premature aging are among the many abnormalities and diseases caused by estrogen dominance.

How do we develop this hormonal imbalance called estrogen dominance?

Estrogen dominance develops as we grow older. When we are over 40 years old, our hormone level changes, and this produces more estrogen than needed in our body. This causes low sex drive, belly fats, soft muscles, saggy skin, and others.

Estrogen dominance is also caused by environmental pollutants that are dumped by chemical, industrial, and agricultural companies into the environment. These toxins imitate the effects of estrogen, and they are called xenoestrogens. These synthetic substances destroy  the estrogen level in our body and causes a lot of maladies such as depression, foggy thinking, man’s boobs, unwanted facial hair, skin problems, and premature aging.

Eating flesh meats can also cause estrogen dominance. Most flesh meats of  animals contain massive amount of hormones.  Eating the flesh meats of hormone-fed animals such as cows, chickens and others can dangerously upset the natural estrogen balance in our body.

Beware of plastic food wrappers,  and water and drinks containers. Plastics  release toxic xenoestrogens that can wreck havoc to the hormonal balance of estrogen in our body. These causes headaches, prostate problems, bloating, water retention, hair loss, and insomnia.

Let us learn how and endeavor to eat vegetables now. Let us eat cruciferous vegetables and enjoy its many good health benefits. Let us spare ourselves and our family of the many maladies and diseases that plague so many people today. Let us take good care of the life God has given us, and let us live this life full of joy and happiness and free from all diseases and sufferings.

Classical Music Is Good For Health

Do you know that classical music is good for health? Have you heard of the many good effects of classical music to health? Do you know that classical music has soothing effects and healing powers for body and mind?

I am a lover of classical music. I like Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Strauss, and others. I am refreshed and invigorated whenever I hear classical music. During my work stint in Abu Dhabi, after every day’s work in the desert, I listen to classical music to refresh my body and mind.  I usually listen to Beethoven especially the baroque ones. They are good for the body and mind, and improves hearing too.

Most of classical music have beneficial effects for physical and mental health. The most famous among these is the Mozart Effect. Listening to Mozart can reduce the number of seizures in person afflicted with a rare form of epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Mozart’s K448 piano sonata improve learning and mathematical skills, and increases spatial IQ by 8 to 9 points.

Listening to classical music such as Mozart reduces stress, and arthritic pains, and improves eyesight too. It has a very soothing effect on heart beat, and may be helpful in heart diseases. The study showed that listening to Mozart or Bach lowered the  heart rate and its variability.

Classical music calms the mind to normalize heart beat and blood pressure. It is now confirmed by more scientists that listening to Mozart, Bach and other classical music have beneficial effects on the mind and the whole body in general.

Healthy Lifestyle – Is Anyone Strictly Following It?

Healthy Lifestyle – Is Anyone Strictly Following It?

Have you been health-conscious lately, and you tried very hard to be a vegetarian? Indeed, it is quite hard to change your diet, and start eating vegetables when you are used to eating flesh meats. It takes a will and discipline to successfully do it.

But good health is not all about food. It is more about the functional relation of the 4 aspects of life: physical, mental, social, and spiritual. Nutrition touches only the physical aspect though it affects the others as a whole. In other words, to be truly healthy, we need to be healthy not only physically but mentally, socially, and spiritually.

This is what we call healthy lifestyle. This lifestyle avoids not only harmful foods and substances that can damage our body, but it also shuns bad habits or attitudes that can endanger our mind, our good relationship with our fellowmen, and our spirituality.

We may be a total vegetarian, but we stay very late at night – we weaken our immune system and make ourselves very susceptible to a host of diseases. We may have more hours of sleep (this is not good either – we are practicing to die!), but we drive our car recklessly – we are endangering our lives and bound to die very soon!

A healthy lifestyle is holistic. It is a balanced functional relationship of the 4 aspects of life. They must go together and function together as one. If one is weakened, the whole is also weakened and affected.

We all agree that if we do not eat balanced diet, our mental capacity is stunted. Or if we have not eaten our lunch, we become irritable, and may quarrel with our neighbors, thus making us socially unhealthy. But you might not agree with me, if I say that if we have no time with God or no time to read the Holy Bible (that is, we are unspiritual), we are also unhealthy.

A healthy lifestyle is a life that is healthy physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. It is a life of vegetarianism, of good hygiene, of temperance in all things, of sober and ennobling thoughts, of benevolent deeds, and a life fully surrendered to the will of God.

The Advantages of A Vegetarian Diet

People spend lots of money to maintain their health. Millions are paid in hospital bills, doctor’s fees, laboratory fees, medicines, and in regular medical checkup. Almost all of man’s striving and endeavors are for his health, happiness, and well being.

But money cannot buy health. Rich people are not exempt from diseases, and even the richest die of terminal cancers which their money has no power to reverse. It is for man’s good to finally come into realization of how futile and worthless wealth can be in a life bereft of good health, and therefore very mandatory that he strives to acquire good health.

Good nutrition is one among the eight secrets of good health. Food is the most basic need of man to live. But it is not only the eating and gulping of food you like – it must be nutritionally balanced to be truly beneficial for the body.

A nutritionally balanced diet must include carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Rich sources of these nutrients are fruits, nuts, grains, and vegetables.

Most people, especially the children prefer meat than vegetables. They believe that proteins can only be obtained from meats, fish, and other animal products. But this is not true. On the contrary, plants, seeds, grains and vegetables are more abundant sources of proteins. Proteins from meats are heavy proteins and are hard to digest. Plant-based proteins are light proteins and are easily digested and assimilated by the body.

Fruits, nuts, grains, and vegetables have all the nutrients needed for excellent health. True, no plant or herbs can produce vitamin B12 – a very essential vitamin in the formation and production of the red blood cells. But the human body can produce its own vitamin B12 when it has enough supply of cobalt which is available in plants or herbs such as Nova Scotia dulse, and Norwegian kelp (types of seaweeds). Vitamin B12 or cobalamin is also partially found in food rich in vitamin B1 or thiamine such as nuts, seeds, beans, brown rice, whole-grain cereals, oats, and leafy vegetables.

Flesh meats of animals, on the other hand, are very harmful to health. Meats of diseased animals are carriers of communicable diseases which are easily transferred to human beings. Most animals today are feed with growth hormones, feed additives, and their meats are loaded with preservatives, food colors, and other toxic chemicals that are dangerous to the body. Healthy animals are butchered in dirty slaughter houses, and bacteria and other pathogens thrive on these meats, and are already putrefying and decayed before it reach the consumers. Eating of flesh meats had long been suspected as the cause of tumors and cancers. Only in this modern time have it been verified and confirmed by medical doctors as true.

Think twice before eating meat. Where do people get these dreadful diseases: cancers, tumors, mad-cow disease, foot-and-mouth disease, bird’s flu, and the latest scare – the Ebola Reston virus?

There Is Always Hope

There is always hope no matter what the situation. Even in death, there is hope of after life.

People are suffering in miseries and afflictions. More people around the world are subsisting in hand-to-mouth existence. Millions are dying of famine, and still more from diseases that plagued our world today.

All of these can be attributable to our being ignorant of who God is and what he can do for us. The moment we learn of God, all our sufferings and miseries will vanish like a smoke, and we will have peace and joy in our lives.

Knowing God does not only brings peace and happiness in life, but eternal life as well. The seemingly insurmountable sufferings we have here on earth cannot go with us to heaven. And if you are willing to surrender your life to God, he will surely carry all your burdens and cares with him.

Knowing God brings the very best of health. It brings peace to a weary soul. It brings hope, and hope brings joy and happiness without bounds.

When in this life we have hope in God, our body is tremendously benefited health wise. All the organs of our body will be invigorated and strengthened by hope, and our immune system will become stronger and will function perfectly together with the other systems of our body.

Diseases cannot thrive in a body that has its hope in God. When we surrender our lives to God every morning, and allow him to work in us, our lives will turn for the better, and each moment of our lives will become happier and more livable.

Let us trust in the Lord with all our hearts,  and let us not lean on our own understanding. Let us not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself.  The world will always have plenty of sorrows and miseries, and if we worry about all these, our lives will become more miserable.

We have a loving Father in heaven who loves us more than our parents loved us. His loving mercy never ends – he will surely lighten our heavy burdens and carry us through in our times of sufferings.

The Lord enjoins us not to worry about tomorrow for it is useless worrying when worrying  itself cannot change it a bit. When we worry so much, our minds and bodies become stressed, and very soon we become sick.

Let us not lean on our own understanding, as the Lord commanded us. Our human understanding is limited, and we do not understand the beginning and the end of a thing. The world is in economic crises, and we expected being laid off  from our jobs; prices of commodities rising up, and the fees of public and private services rising with it too. When we rely on our own understanding and strength to solve all these problems in life,  we will have lots of hardships, and end up in hospital, or worst, commit suicide when overburdened by so many insurmountable problems in life.

There is always hope even from an incurable disease. When we come to realize that God created us in his own image, and he breathed his very own breath into our nostrils, we will rise above all diseases and conquer them for good. We can rise above all the sufferings and afflictions when we realize that there is a divine breath in us so pure, so invigorating, and so holy for diseases to even thrive in our body, and for problems to even conquer our hearts and minds.
