Women flock and frequent beauty parlors to have their hairs trimmed and colored, and gray hairs dyed to look more younger. The rich and the affluent pay large sums of money to have their sagging skins in the face, neck, and arms stretched to remove wrinkles. And still others resort to cosmetic surgery to remove unwanted skins and muscles to look younger and more beautiful.

To stay younger, we must learn the principles of good health. First and foremost, we must think young. Stop worrying about getting old, and start thinking of getting younger everyday. The mind is a powerful machine that makes real what we feed on it. As we believe, so we are.
There are 8 secrets to good health: nutrition, exercise, water, sunlight, temperance, air, rest and trust in Divine Power.
Let us discuss nutrition first. A balanced diet must include all the nutrients essential for a healthy body. This includes carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals. With carbohydrates, we “go”, with proteins, we “grow”, and with vitamins and minerals, we “glow”.
Avoid junk foods. They are loaded with food additives, flavors, enhancers, colors, and preservatives that are very harmful to the body. Most of these substances are excitotoxins that cause tumors, cancers, and many diseases that can hasten old age, and eventually death.
Eat fruits, grains, nuts and vegetable. They are complete with all the nutrients needed by the body. Plant proteins are light and are easily digested and assimilated by the body. Fruits, grains, nuts, and vegetables have phytochemicals that have healing powers. Almost all fruits grains, nuts, and vegetables have antioxidants that can prevent and protect the body from the harmful effects of pollution and stress which can hasten premature aging.
Eat three square meals a day.There should be no meals in between. You can skip dinner, or even lunch, but never your breakfast. Skipping breakfast makes one fat and obese.
Chew your food well. Eat less and do not overindulge. Practice temperance. Whatever is in excess is not good for the body.
Avoid sugar and all confectionery products. It destroys the brain and the nervous system, especially the memory.
Avoid flesh meats of animals. They are loaded with toxic chemicals such as feed additives, growth hormones, and preservatives. Flesh meats have parasites, virus and other pathogens that can carry communicable diseases to consumers such as mad cow disease, foot and mouth disease, bird’s flu, and Ebola Reston virus.
Avoid tobacco, coffee, soft drinks, liquor, and other alcoholic drinks. These are all substances that overstimulate the brain and the nervous system. Soft drinks and other carbonated drinks have caffeine and aspartame. These are dangerous excitotoxins that destroy the body. Tobacco has nicotine, and cigarette has hundreds of toxic substances, 22 of which are proven carcinogens.
Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water every day. Except for fruit and vegetable juices, do not drink water during meals. They should be taken an hour after meals or between meals. Drink fruit and vegetable juices. They cure a lot of diseases including cancer. Fruit and vegetable juices are the elixirs of youth.
Have a regular exercise in the open air free from pollution, and under the invigorating heat of the morning sunlight. This is very beneficial to the body. It reduces bad cholesterol, and increases the good cholesterol in the body. The fresh air and the sunlight are good for blood circulation, and is an excellent blood toner.
Take time to rest. It is very essential for body repair and rejuvenation. Go to bed at least 2 hours before midnight to be able to avail the best effects of a very sound sleep. Have at least 6 to 8 hours sleep every day. Do not oversleep. It is not good for the body.
Trust in Divine Power. You were created in God’s image, and you are in perfect health. Have a positive outlook in life. Hope for the best. Think of beautiful things. Do not worry about tomorrow; let tomorrow worry about itself. Smile and laugh – these are potent stress killers! Laugh till your stomach aches. This is the best way to boost the immune system, and to kill cancer cells. Laughter activates the built-in healing mechanism in the body.
